The Mon Calamari faction was the Mon Calamari and Quarren faction that represented their government in the Senate of the Galactic Republic. After the plot to assassinate Senator Amidala, Senator Tikkes pledged his support for the Confederacy of Independent Systems and attempted to drag the entire Mon Calamari faction with him. Although the Free Dac Volunteers Engineering Corps followed Tikkes, other Mon Calamari and Quarren loyalists remained and reconfirmed their planet's support for the Republic. The faction quickly replaced Senator Tikkes with Senator Tundra Dowmeia in time for Supreme Chancellor Palpatine's proclamation creating the Grand Army of the Republic.^[1]
