Marrok's lightsaber was the double-bladed spinning lightsaber owned by the former Imperial Inquisitor known as Marrok, similar to those wielded by the other Inquisitors.
Description[]
Marrok's lightsaber[3] was a double-bladed spinning lightsaber[1] capable of switching between single-bladed, otherwise known as crescent mode, and double-bladed, otherwise known as disc mode.[2] The saber possessed a cylindrical hilt[3] with an emitter ring[6] that had two barbs on either side.[3] Marrok's lightsaber housed two kyber crystals[4] that emitted red blades. He[5] carried the saber in crescent mode on his back when not in use.[7]
History[]
In 19 BBY,[8] Marrok, a member of the Galactic Empire's Inquisitorius, carried the saber on his back, partially under his cloak, within Fortress Inquisitorius,[7] the headquarters of the Inquisitors.[9] Within the fortress, Marrok met the Sith Lord[10] Darth Vader, master of the Inquisitorius.[5] Sometime around 9 ABY,[11] Marrok, now a mercenary working for Morgan Elsbeth,[12] brought his saber with him as he accompanied fellow mercenary Baylan Skoll on[13] the planet[14] Arcana and searched the ruins of the Nightsisters' Temple.[13]
Behind the scenes[]
Marrok's lightsaber first appeared in "Part One: Master and Apprentice," the first episode[13] of the first season of the television series Ahsoka, which aired on August 22, 2023, on Disney+.[15] The lightsaber was first previewed earlier in the year in Ahsoka's first trailer, which was first shown during Lucasfilm's Studio Showcase on April 7 during Celebration Europe in 2023. The trailer was then shown during the Celebration livestream[16] and posted to the Star Wars YouTube channel.[17] It was first identified as "Marrok's lightsaber" in a StarWars.com article detailing the Lucasfilm Pavilion at San Diego Comic-Con 2023, which was posted on July 21, 2023. The hilt was created by property master Josh Roth.[3]
