The Lobaoc system was located in the Outer Rim Territories' Mieru'kar sector. It contained the watery planet Lobaoc. At some point between 67 BBY and 19 BBY, the Jedi Consular and investigator Ambaln was sent by the Jedi High Council to Lobaoc to bring a native Force-sensitive girl back for Jedi training. Unbeknownst to the Jedi Council, Ambaln had previously fallen to the dark side of the Force, and the council subsequently dispatched a group of individuals to the planet in order to apprehend the fallen Jedi.

Description[]

The Lobaoc system was located in the Mieru'kar sector, a part of the Outer Rim Territories.[1] It contained the planet Lobaoc, a watery world of lakes and marshes.[3]

History[]

At some point between 67 BBY and 19 BBY,[4] the Jedi High Council of the Jedi Order learned of the existence of a young Force-sensitive girl on Lobaoc who had potential for training as a Jedi. To appraise the situation and bring the potential Jedi back for training, the Jedi Council dispatched the Mon Calamari Jedi Consular and investigator Ambaln to Lobaoc. However, after the investigator had already departed on his mission, the Council realized that Ambaln, whose prior assignment had been as a deep undercover operative within a criminal syndicate, had fallen to the dark side of the Force. To bring Ambaln back to the Jedi Order for rehabilitation, the Council then also sent a group of individuals to Lobaoc.[3]

Ambaln traveled to Lobaoc in his Whitecloak fighter and convinced the girl's parents to give up their child for Jedi training. Ambaln then waited for the arrival of the group sent by the Jedi Council and lured the individuals into an attack by the local dianoga creatures. Using the attack as a distraction, Ambaln eventually escaped to his starship.[3]

Inhabitants[]

Lobaoc featured a number of settlements inhabited by Human and Near-Human farmers. One such settlement was Koab, a village with a population of a few thousand individuals.[3]

Behind the scenes[]

The Lobaoc system was introduced via an appearance of the planet Lobaoc in "Swim Meet," a Star Wars Roleplaying Game mini-adventure authored by Jeff Quick and published on the Wizards of the Coast website on August 22, 2002.[3] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas identified the star system and placed it in grid square N-3.[2]

In "Swim Meet," the scenario for the player-characters' encounter with Ambaln on Lobaoc is left open-ended. If Ambaln escapes the characters, the Mon Calamari swims back to his starship and leaves Lobaoc. The fallen Jedi then spends a few weeks staying hidden before returning to Lobaoc with the young girl to begin her Force training. This article assumes the scenario plays out as described.[3]

  4. "Swim Meet" is set in the Rise of the Empire era, which the Star Wars Legends Novels Timeline dates to between 67 BBY and 0 BBY. In addition, the Jedi High Council—which, along with the rest of the Jedi Order, was disbanded in 19 BBY, according to The New Essential Chronology—is extant during the events of the adventure; therefore, "Swim Meet" must be set at some point between 67 BBY and 19 BBY.
