Kostra was a Mid Rim astronomical object situated in the Romintine sector. During the Galactic Civil War, the Galactic Empire attacked it, emerging victorious over Rebel Alliance forces there. During the confrontation, the Rebel starfighter pilot Fulkrehm Protial crash-landed on Kostra, where, due to exposure to the trosilon nerve gas, he suffered damage to his motor control skills that the celestial body's natives were not able to fully heal.

Description[]

Kostra was a terrestrial celestial body[3] located in the Kostra system, a part of the Romintine sector[1] in the Trans-Hydian portion of[2] the Mid Rim.[1]

History[]

Fulkrehm Protial

Fulkrehm Protial was injured as a result of crash-landing on Kostra.

At some point between 2 BBY and 0 BBY,[2] the forces of the Galactic Empire attacked Kostra[3] as part of its attempts to suppress the activities of its enemy during the Galactic Civil War, the Rebel Alliance.[2] During the confrontation,[3] in which the Empire emerged victorious,[2] the Alliance Y-wing starfighter pilot Fulkrehm Protial was forced to crash-land on Kostra, where he was then exposed to a nearly lethal amount of the Imperial trosilon nerve gas.[3]

Although Kostra's native inhabitants subsequently rescued Protial from the wreckage of his starfighter and tended to his condition, they did not possess the necessary medical expertise to bring about a full recovery, and the pilot was left with irreparable damage to his motor control skills. At some point by the time shortly after the Battle of Yavin, Alliance General Airen Cracken mentioned Kostra in an entry dedicated to Protial that was part of a datafile detailing various Rebel operatives.[3]

Behind the scenes[]

Kostra was created by Chuck Truett and was introduced in Cracken's Rebel Operatives, a 1994 West End Games sourcebook published for use with Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[3] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Kostra system, and therefore the celestial body, in grid square Q-8.[2]
