Kessarine were a sentient species. Females, or egg bearers, had one tail, while males had multiple. Members of the species also had cheek frills, double eyelids,[2] and webbed fingers. The Galactic Basic language did not have exact equivalent terms for their genders, but when Kessarine matured, the child's will contributed to whether or not they became an egg bearer. Out of a litter of five, the common proportion of those that would mature into egg bearers was two of them.[1]
Although the species started as amphibious, they lost that ability and could not breathe underwater. They did not require as much rest as most sentient species.[2]
