For other uses, see Kes (disambiguation).

The Kes system was located in the Core Worlds. It was situated on the Perlemian Trade Route between the Coruscant and Alsakan systems, and during the First Alsakan Conflict between the worlds of Coruscant and Alsakan, it was the site of hyperspace minefields. In 16,921 BBY, the Battle of Kes, one of the rare direct confrontations between the two worlds' forces during the early Conflicts, was fought in the system.

Description[]

The Kes system was a part of the Core Worlds. It lay on the super-hyperroute known as the Perlemian Trade Route,[1] which served as the dividing line between the regions known as the Northern Dependencies and the Slice, specifically its Arrowhead portion.[2] The Perlemian Trade Route linked the Kes system to the Alsakan system and[1] the hyperspace beacon[4] known as Belgoth's Beacon.[1]

History[]

Around 17,000 BBY, the Kes system fell within the borders of the Galactic Republic, and the First Alsakan Conflict was fought—the first of a fourteen-millennia-long series of wars over political control of the Republic between its capital world Coruscant, the planet Alsakan, and their respective allies. By the time of that conflict, the stretch of the Perlemian Trade Route traversing through the Kes system connected the Coruscant and Alsakan systems. As such, it featured hyperspace minefields, and in 16,921 BBY, the system was the site of the Battle of Kes, the only direct confrontation during the early Alsakan Conflicts between the forces of the two belligerent systems. The battle resulted in a tactical draw.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

The Kes system was introduced in the 2012 reference book The Essential Guide to Warfare by Jason Fry and Paul R. Urquhart.[1] The StarWars.com Online Companion to the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed it in grid square L-9.[3]
