Keltos IV was a Mid Rim astronomical object situated in the Irnaj sector. During the Galactic Civil War, it was the site of a military shipyard of the Galactic Empire. Additionally, Imperial Intelligence Sector Plexus facilities were located in the celestial body's orbit. The Rebel Alliance spy droid R2-C3 worked undercover on computer network security there, surreptitiously transmitting to the Alliance information he had recorded from the facilities' computers.

Description[]

Keltos IV,[5] also known simply as Keltos,[6] was a celestial body[5] located in the Keltos system, a part of the Irnaj sector[1] in the Western Reaches portion of[2] the Mid Rim.[1] It was situated on the D'Aelgoth Trade Route hyperlane, which connected it to the Miztoc system as well as[3] the Feenix system of the D'Aelgoth sector and the Wornal sector's Kriselist system.[7]

History[]

R2-C3 CRO

R2-C3 was an undercover Rebel Alliance spy who worked on computer network security aboard Imperial Intelligence Sector Plexus facilities in orbit over Keltos IV.

During the Galactic Civil War, by the time shortly after the Battle of Yavin, Imperial Intelligence of the Galactic Empire maintained orbital Sector Plexus facilities above Keltos IV. The R2-series astromech droid and Rebel Alliance spy R2-C3 worked undercover on computer network security there. He recorded information from the facilities' computers and transmitted it to the Alliance using unused portions of the Sector Plexus's broadcast frequencies. The signals were then extracted from the transmissions by several Rebel agents who were servicing relay satellite stations. Alliance General Airen Cracken eventually noted R2-C3's service over Keltos IV in an entry dedicated to the droid that was part of a datafile detailing various Rebel operatives.[5]

Around that time, Keltos IV also hosted one of the galaxy's major starship manufacturers, which imported from the Outer Rim Territories[6] planet[8] Eriadu and[6] the astronomical object Medth[6] of the Mid Rim's Ado sector[9] high-technology products manufactured on the industrial planet Ord Gimmel.[6] Shortly before the Battle of Endor of 4 ABY, Keltos IV was the site of a Class II Imperial military shipyard. The output of the facility was limited to Imperial-class Star Destroyers.[4]

Locations[]

During the Galactic Civil War, Keltos IV's orbit was the site of Imperial Intelligence Sector Plexus facilities.[5] An Imperial military shipyard was also located at the celestial body.[4]

Behind the scenes[]

Keltos IV was created by David R. Tulo, Jr. and was introduced in Cracken's Rebel Operatives, a 1994 West End Games sourcebook published for use with Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[5] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Keltos system, and therefore Keltos IV, in grid square K-17.[2] Strongholds of Resistance, a 2015 sourcebook published for use with Fantasy Flight Games' Star Wars: Age of Rebellion line of roleplaying products, later introduced the shortened name "Keltos" for the celestial body.[6]
