The K droids, also known as the Kays, were a group of droids constructed by the droid J-6 on the planet Aricho during the High Republic Era. J-6 constructed the K droids to assist Aricho's small resistance force in the liberation of the planet from the Nihil marauders. The K droids numbered six in total, including one, four, K-5, and seven—J-6 did not designate any as six, keeping that number unique to herself. The droids were simplistic in comparison to J-6, with rudimentary vocalizers and few commands in their databanks, but were sufficient to aid in fighting the Nihil. When Jedi Knight Vernestra Rwoh encountered J-6 while searching for Imri Cantaros, her Padawan and an ally of J-6 on Aricho, the Jedi assisted in the completion of the K droids. The K droids subsequently took part in a attack to liberate captives from a Nihil processing facility, later transporting them to the resistance's base in Ytrecht on ancient landspeeders.^[1]
