This page records a series of comments made by LucasBooks Senior Editor Jennifer Heddle on Twitter regarding the new canon in the aftermath of the announcement of April 25, 2014.

Jennifer Heddle via Twitter

Q: So will the new Maul comics based on Clone Wars scripts be considered canon?
JH: Yes.

Q: so will we be getting a list of ANY books considered canon? Maybe Plagueis? Or is it just the movies, Rebels and Clone Wars?
JH: Movies, Rebels, Clone Wars, and all content (books, games, etc) moving forward. But EU still exists as a resource.

Q: so no new books are going to be added to the original EU going forward, what's there is there and that's it?
JH: Correct. (For now? Always in motion is the future, etc, etc.)

Q: Nice appearance in the vid...did any existing stories make the cut? Or all new material being created?
JH: Existing stories are there as a resource. But only new stories going forward are part of this "one universe."

Q: What about the Darth Plagueis novel, which seemed very coherent with TCW, and KOTOR? :)
JH: Book is technically Legends but the character is canon since he was mentioned in the prequels.

Q: All right! And what about the Republic Commando game? Doesn't seem to be incoherent with the movies or TCW at all and was cool :)
JH: Would still be considered "Legends" I suppose but it's still a great game!

Q: Vhat about upcoming FFG books? they are old EU? while ongoing?
JH: That's a million dollar question. ;) Tricky area. Not entirely sure myself yet.

Q: So I guess Tarkin and the other books won't mention the previous EU? And you didn't answer for KOTOR :)
JH: There might be people you recognize. Will prob still use planets etc. We're not throwing it away. KOTOR = Legends.

Q: will any "old" books be incorporated into new canon timeline?
JH: No way to tell what will get pulled from EU going forward. It's all there if we want it.

Q: Can we assume, though, that they will be individual elements that are pulled and not whole novels/comics
JH: That would be my guess but I honestly have no idea.

Q: what about TCW tie-in novels like Gambit, or No Prisoners? Legends or canon?
JH: That's probably a question for @HolocronKeeper.

TwitterLogo Jennifer Heddle (@jenheddle) on Twitter (content obsolete and backup link not available)

Q: Is Darth Maul: Son of Dathomir under Legends?
JH: Maul: SoD is being adapted straight from Clone Wars scripts so will be considered canon.

TwitterLogo Jennifer Heddle (@jenheddle) on Twitter (backup link)

Q: what about Rebel Heist? Last of the Legends?
JH: Rebel Heist will be considered under "Legends," yes.

Q: What about the Kenobi novel, and other pre-Original Trilogy material?
JH: Legends.

Q: So no single EU story will become canon? Or are there exceptions?
JH: There will always be elements that might become canon. Like how witches of Dathomir on TCW came from EU.

TwitterLogo Jennifer Heddle (@jenheddle) on Twitter (backup link)

Q: what does this mean for Mara Jade? So long as she remains in the story, I righteously don't care what is Legends or not
JH: She's part of "Legends" now. Does that mean she'll never show up in something going forward? Your guess is as good as mine.

TwitterLogo Jennifer Heddle (@jenheddle) on Twitter (backup link)

Q: Is Heir to the Jedi still considered "Empire and Rebellion 3" or has it been "disconnected" from the series?
JH: Not sure we've decided yet if it will still be part of E&R.
Del Rey: HTTJ will not be part of E&R. Razor's Edge and Honor Among Thieves are now part of the "Legends" line.

Q: Question: Will the E&R trilogy be completed in the Legends line or should we just consider it a duology now?
JH: Consider it a duology from the Legends line. But Scarlet Hark is real to me!!

TwitterLogo Jennifer Heddle (@jenheddle) on Twitter (backup link)

Q: Is this all EU or just post Return of the Jedi? I've always loved the Old Republic stuff like TotJ.
JH: All of it, but, we do wonder about that ourselves. So not 100% sure how that will play out? But consider Legends for now.

TwitterLogo Jennifer Heddle (@jenheddle) on Twitter (content obsolete and backup link not available)

Q: Are the Clone Wars tie-in books by Karen Traviss and Karen Miller officially considered Legends or Canon?
JH: Might want to ask @HolocronKeeper that one.

TwitterLogo Jennifer Heddle (@jenheddle) on Twitter (content obsolete and backup link not available)

Q: So is the old EU, at best, just an alternate universe now?
JH: Basically, but a lot of EU elements have become or might become canon moving forward. It's still there to use.

Q: Given that it's still ongoing, do we know where the RPG from @FFGames falls?
JH: That's a tricky one. Not entirely sure myself tbh. We'll figure it out.

TwitterLogo Jennifer Heddle (@jenheddle) on Twitter (content obsolete and backup link not available)

Q: What about the "Clone Wars" Animations? Not "The Clone Wars" but "Clone Wars" Is that still canon?
JH: That's a question for @HolocronKeeper

TwitterLogo Jennifer Heddle (@jenheddle) on Twitter (content obsolete and backup link not available)

Q: Would someone like Darth Maul's EU novels/comics that were essentially his life story be Legends now? They don't conflict with..
JH: Anything about his origins that was in TCW (incl the upcoming Son of Dathomir comics) would be canon.

TwitterLogo Jennifer Heddle (@jenheddle) on Twitter (backup link)

Q: Will old things from the #Legends Universe still be published? And even new things? Like Sword of the Jedi?
JH: The old Legends books will remain in print, yes. Probably not new stories, though. :( But who knows?

TwitterLogo Jennifer Heddle (@jenheddle) on Twitter (backup link)

Q: What about the comics/novels that bear The Clone Wars brand? Are those included with the show, or are they Legends as well?
JH: I think they're only canon if they are directly based on something that was in the show.

TwitterLogo Jennifer Heddle (@jenheddle) on Twitter (content obsolete and backup link not available)

Q: Is Vader's Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader canon? I believe it was right after ROTS
JH: I believe that would be considered "Legends."

TwitterLogo Jennifer Heddle (@jenheddle) on Twitter (backup link)

Q: So...everything that is (or was) the Old Republic Era is just...non-canon now? Revan, Meetra? All of them are just..gone?
JH: They're still there! But are they part of "official" canon, for now? Probably not. But they could be referred to in future

TwitterLogo Jennifer Heddle (@jenheddle) on Twitter (content obsolete and backup link not available)

Q: What about the Old Republic era?
JH: That's something we've wondered ourselves. ;) Operating under assumption it's part of "past EU" but I guess we'll see.

TwitterLogo Jennifer Heddle (@jenheddle) on Twitter (content obsolete and backup link not available)

Q: Is KOTOR, Darth Bane, and Darth Plagueis all being wiped?
JH: They are now "Legends" but remember Darth Bane and Darth Plagueis are canon characters created by George.

TwitterLogo Jennifer Heddle (@jenheddle) on Twitter (backup link)

Q: Yes but those elements are not exactly how they were in the EU. The witches, for example, doesn't seem like Force-users in TCW :)
JH: Right, they may not show up in the same way. Or they might! ;)

TwitterLogo Jennifer Heddle (@jenheddle) on Twitter (backup link)

Q: So does this include KOTOR and Star Wars: Legacy too? Or just anything around the time of the movies?
JH: That would all be considered Legends, now.

TwitterLogo Jennifer Heddle (@jenheddle) on Twitter (backup link)

Q: does this mean everything post Return of the Jedi is no longer cannon, but everything before is canon or is it all non-canon now?
JH: It's all non-canon, but it all exists as a resource that could be used down the line.

TwitterLogo Jennifer Heddle (@jenheddle) on Twitter (backup link)

Q: Question: the third Empire & Rebellion book by Hearne is annonced. Does this mean that the other two are part of the new UE?
JH: That's a tricky one. Basically first 2 books are Legends, the new Luke one is being done in concert w/ Story Group, so 'canon.'

TwitterLogo Jennifer Heddle (@jenheddle) on Twitter (backup link)

Q: is Revan canon?
JH: The book is Legends but the character was almost in The Clone Wars so...I'm not sure? Maybe that will become clear down the line.

TwitterLogo Jennifer Heddle (@jenheddle) on Twitter (content obsolete and backup link not available)

Q: What about already running lines? Such as FFGs books which have referred a lot in now old EU. Will its new books be legend?
JH: Not sure about that! Figuring it out.

Q: Thanks :). Reference books (be they roleplaying or otherwise) are easy to forget when focusing on novels and continuity...
JH: My sense is there's no point in ignoring all that material. It's there unless something new contradicts it.

Q: Some major old EU event you may not want Is this new FFG book canon? And if it is are the old event it brought up?
JH: We would not have the new book reference any EU we don't want in there [...] Story Group would decide if any EU material they would want to use would be allowed to be included.

TwitterLogo Jennifer Heddle (@jenheddle) on Twitter (backup link)

JH: Lots of you are asking about The Old Republic...I assume that is now "Legends," but I don't know 100%. Esp w/ game ongoing.

Q: the thing w/ the @SWTOR sector of SW Canon is that it is SO FAR in the past and doesn't even connect to the films. Why erase it?
JH: We don't consider it "erased" it's still there. As long as nothing new directly contradicts it, it's there to be used.

TwitterLogo Jennifer Heddle (@jenheddle) on Twitter (content obsolete and backup link not available)

Q: Hi! Wondering if you know what the new canon means for 1980's Star Wars TV. Are Droids, Ewoks and the Ewok movies now Legends?
JH: I guess so!

TwitterLogo Jennifer Heddle (@jenheddle) on Twitter (content obsolete and backup link not available)

Q: Hi! Any thoughts on the other TV shows? Clone Wars shorts, Droids, Ewoks and Ewok Movies?
JH: Don't know for sure!

TwitterLogo Jennifer Heddle (@jenheddle) on Twitter (backup link)

JH: Like seriously you should probably ignore anything I've said about video games because I don't know what I'm talking about. LOL.

TwitterLogo Jennifer Heddle (@jenheddle) on Twitter (backup link)

Q: Are the film novelizations, junior novelizations, and TCW film novelization still canon?
JH: That's a tricky question and I'm not sure, sorry!
