A uniform was worn by scientists who served on projects run by Imperial Military officials during and after the reign of the Galactic Empire. It consisted of a gray belted tunic with a white yoke that featured a high collar and pleated details. A patch worn on the right shoulder denoted the project to which the wearer was attached. Galen Erso wore this uniform while serving on the Tarkin Initiative's base on Eadu. His version included two code cylinders tucked into the yoke of the tunic and a patch bearing the insignia of the Tarkin Initiative.[1]

Another variant of this suit existed during the first days of the Empire, on Wayland, by medical officers stationed there. The uniform was colored beige, black, and white and, unlike the one Tarkin Initiative members wore, it utilised a modified version of the Kaminoan emblem worn by the clone cadets. A medical officer named Scalder wore this uniform when she welcomed Chief Medical Scientist Nala Se on the facility.[5] A similar uniform with a gray yoke and red markings was worn by Emerie Karr, and the dark green coat worn by Doctor Royce Hemlock had a similar white yoke to the uniform.[6]

The uniform was also worn on Nevarro by members of Gideon's Imperial remnant. A clone expert named Penn Pershing wore a similar beige variation of the uniform to that worn by Scalder, with an emblem[2] resembling the Kaminoan emblem worn by all clone troopers while in training.[4] A pair of scientists at Moff Gideon's base on Nevarro wore the gray version of the uniform with the same patch found on Pershing's but without the black stripes framing the yoke.[7]

A similar uniform in shades of green was worn by at least one Imperial doctor on the Death Star. It bore no insignia on the shoulders. Whilst operating on Darth Vader, the doctor wore a pale green surgical gown over his uniform.[3]
