"Brothers! What are we doing? We came here to free Ryloth from Separatist control, and we succeeded. But look around you. We're now being ordered to target the very people we swore to protect. And I will not be a part of it any longer! Who will stand with me?"
―Howzer, to his squad[2]

A squad of clone stormtroopers served in a battalion in the Galactic Empire's army under the command of Captain "Howzer" following the Clone Wars. Members of the squad served alongside Howzer during the liberation of Ryloth from the Separatist Alliance during the war.[2]

Description[]

As clone stormtroopers in service to the Galactic Empire, Howzer's squad were equipped in standard-issue Phase II clone trooper armor. The squad made use of DC-15A blaster carbines and riot shields.[1]

History[]

During the Clone Wars, Howzer's squad served in the Lessu battalion and was tasked with freeing Ryloth from Separatist control. In the aftermath of the war and the rise of the Galactic Empire, the Lessu battalion became part of the newly-formed Stormtrooper Corps, and was ordered to remain on Ryloth and protect the native Twi'leks. In reality, this was a ruse, with the battalion's true mission being to guard an new Imperial doonium refinery and to enforce Imperial authority over the planet.[1]

Not long after the refinery went online, Clone Force 99, a squad of rogue clone commandos, infiltrated the Imperial installation and extracted Free Ryloth Movement leader Cham Syndulla and his wife Eleni Syndulla from Imperial captivity. Howzer's squad, equipped with riot shields, were ordered by Crosshair to cut off the rogue clone's escape. Alongside three Elite Squad Troopers, Howzer's squad positioned themselves outside the refinery's only exit. When their commanding officer Howzer appeared to them, the squad listened as the clone captain denounced the Empire's actions on Ryloth. Convinced with their captain's speech, six members of Howzer's squad threw down their arms and stood with him in defiance, while the remaining four remained loyal to the Empire and held them at gunpoint. Crosshair subsequently ordered Howzer and the clones who stood with him to be arrested.[2]

Eventually, Howzer was freed by a group of rogue clones consisting of the clones Fireball, Nemec, Gregor, and Echo. Howzer was then a member of Rex's resistance network.[3]
