A harmonics counter was a box-shaped device with a black handle on top and a black casing on its sides around a white and orange face. Eight different black- or silver-colored dials were located on the face, as well as a black screen showing a blue tuning readout. The Jedi-in-training Rey owned a harmonics counter with a skewed front panel. She kept the counter on her workbench at the Resistance base on the moon Ajan Kloss.[1]

Rey used the equipment on the workbench to flex her mechanical skills, study the Jedi texts, and repair the Skywalker lightsaber by healing its kyber crystal.[1] In 35 ABY,[2] the counter was sat on the corner of Rey's workbench when she was informed that the YT-1300 light freighter known as the Millennium Falcon had returned to base and was still there when she later retrieved the[3] Rammahgon,[1] one of the Jedi texts, from a container near the bench.[3]

Behind the scenes[]

A harmonics counter first appeared in the 2019 sequel trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker.[3] It was first identified in the accompanying reference book Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary, which was written by Pablo Hidalgo.[1]
