GX-8 was a sewing assistant droid that was employed by Arta Kleidun, owner of Black Spire Outfitters, to help keep up with demand at her store. It[1] helped with mending clothing and other minor sewing tasks[3] using its many arms, each one of which was specially designed for mending and sewing garments.[1]

In 34 ABY,[4] during the First Order occupation of the planet Batuu,[2] GX-8 sat in power-down mode in its stall[3] within Black Spire Outfitters, which was located in Black Spire Outpost on Batuu.[2] Also in that year,[5] the droid was mentioned in Traveler's Guide to Batuu, a book written by historian Eloc Throno.[1] GX-8 had orange, black, and white plating and a black sensor.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

GX-8 first appeared as a prop within the themed land Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge,[2] which opened to guests at Disneyland Park and Disney's Hollywood Studios in 2019.[6] Its design was inspired by a medical droid.[3]
