"Are you sure you won't have that drink? The Fuzzy Tauntaun? Or maybe a Carbon Freeze? No? Well, then, settle back and prepare to be wowed as the great Hondo Ohnaka tells you a story."
―Hondo Ohnaka suggests cocktails at Oga's Cantina to Bazine Netal[1]

Fuzzy Tauntauns were yellow, fruity, alcoholic cocktails topped with Golden Lichen and buzzz, a substance that caused lip tingling when consumed. The drink was named after the tauntaun species from the ice planet Hoth and was served at a very cold temperature.

In 34 ABY, the beverage was served at Oga's Cantina in Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu. The Weequay smuggler Hondo Ohnaka recommended the cocktail to the mercenary Bazine Netal, but she said she was not someone who would drink a Fuzzy Tauntaun. The young humans Julen Rakab and Volt Vescuso drank them after Rakab thwarted Ana Tolla's attack on the Saka Homestead.

Description[]

"Yellow, fruity, and topped with foam, the Fuzzy Tauntaun is served cold as Hoth and lovingly named after the snow lizard creatures who live there."
―Eloc Throno, Traveler's Guide to Batuu[5]

The Fuzzy Tauntaun was a yellow-colored, fruity, alcoholic cocktail served at Oga's Cantina in Black Spire Outpost on the Outer Rim planet Batuu[2] in 34 ABY.[6] It was made using a substance called buzzz,[3] a foam that caused a tingling sensation in the drinker's lips when it was consumed,[2] and its dusting with gold-colored flakes of Golden Lichen made it one of the most expensive drinks at the cantina.[4] Named after tauntauns, a snow lizard species, Fuzzy Tauntauns were served at very cold temperatures like the creatures' homeworld,[5] the ice planet Hoth.[7]

History[]

"When something works, go with it. And speaking of something that works, are you sure you wouldn't like a Fuzzy Tauntaun?"
"Do I look like the kind of person who drinks Fuzzy Tauntauns?"
―Hondo Ohnaka fails to convince Bazine Netal to try a Fuzzy Tauntaun[1]

In 34 ABY,[8] the Weequay smuggler Hondo Ohnaka personally recommended the drink to the human mercenary Bazine Netal multiple times while she questioned him at Oga's Cantina during her search for the Millennium Falcon, a YT-1300 light freighter. She declined each time, and, upon his last attempt, asked him if she looked like the kind of person who drank the beverage; Ohnaka agreed that Netal did not.[1] According to Resistance spy Vi Moradi, the former First Order stormtrooper Archex was another human who did not seem the type to drink the beverage.[9]

That year,[8] Julen Rakab and Volt Vescuso, a pair of humans, drank congratulatory Fuzzy Tauntauns at Oga's Cantina after Rakab successfully thwarted Ana Tolla's attack on Saka Homestead.[4] Also in 34 ABY,[8] author and explorer Eloc Throno provided a description of the beverage in his book Traveler's Guide to Batuu.[5]

A Fuzzy Tauntaun in The Sims 4

Fuzzy Tauntauns were first mentioned in the junior novel Pirate's Price, which was written by Lou Anders[1] and published on January 8, 2019.[10] On February 27 of that year, D23: The Official Disney Fan Club[11] and StarWars.com announced that the beverage, which was first pictured on the latter website, would be sold at the real-world bar Oga's Cantina in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge,[12] a themed land that opened at Disneyland Park on May 31 and Disney's Hollywood Studios on August 29 of the same year.[13] The menu's description reads, "Cîroc Peach Vodka, Bols Peach Schnapps, and Simply Orange® topped with Tangerine, Pure Cane Sugar, 'Buzzz' Foam."[14] The real-world "buzzz" is derived from buzz buttons.[15]

The 2020 non-canon video game expansion The Sims 4 Star Wars: Journey to Batuu includes Fuzzy Tauntauns as a drink that the player's Sims can purchase from the Oga's Cantina vendor in the Black Spire Outpost neighborhood. Its price of sixty credits makes it the second most expensive item on the menu. Upon consuming the drink for the first time, the Sim automatically learns the recipe and can prepare it at mixology bars in their home neighborhood.[16]
