Eriscot was a Mid Rim water world located in the Haserian sector. It was the homeworld of the sentient Nejma species, which was relocated to the planet Iskalon by a group of spacefaring benefactors after a series of cataclysms on several water worlds, including Eriscot, five millennia before the Galactic Civil War. During the reign of the New Republic, the anthropologist Doctor Hoole was studying the ruins of those worlds.

Description[]

Eriscot was a water world[3] located in the Eriscot system, a part of the Haserian sector[1] in the Slice portion of[2] the Mid Rim.[1]

History[]

Nejma

Eriscot was the homeworld of the Nejma species (foreground).

Eriscot was the homeworld of the Nejma, a species of aquatic sentients.[3] At some point five millennia before the Galactic Civil War,[4] a series of cataclysms occurred on several water worlds throughout the galaxy, including Eriscot. The catastrophes left the native inhabitants helpless until a group of spacefaring benefactors arrived and helped relocate the species of the affected worlds to[3] the Mid Rim[5] planet Iskalon, where the latter eventually formed the Iskalonian cultural group.[3]

At some point during the reign of the New Republic, the Shi'ido anthropologist Doctor Hoole was studying the ruins of the Iskalonian homeworlds, including Eriscot, to determine the nature of the cataclysms that occurred there and the identity of the Iskalonian benefactors.[3] Eriscot was also eventually mentioned in an entry dedicated to the Iskalonians in the book The Essential Guide to Alien Species, which was based on Hoole's notes and published during the New Republic's rule.[6]

Behind the scenes[]

Eriscot was first mentioned in the article "The University of Sanbra Guide to Intelligent Life: The Marvel Series," which was authored by Rich Handley and Joe Bongiorno and published in the first issue of the Star Wars Gamer magazine[3] on September 1, 2000.[7] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Eriscot system, and therefore the planet itself, in grid square Q-14.[2]

  4. The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, Vol. II, p. 119 ("Iskalonian") states that the species constituting the Iskalonian cultural group were brought to Iskalon approximately five millennia before the Galactic Civil War. Since "The University of Sanbra Guide to Intelligent Life: The Marvel Series" establishes that the relocation of the Iskalonian species was prefaced by the cataclysms on the species' original homeworlds, the cataclysms must also have occurred around that time.
