The Crackle was a portion of the Starship Graveyard on the planet Jakku. Despite the X'us'R'iia, Jakku's storms, reshaping the terrain, the Crackle was one of the few constants on the planet. The Crackle was formed from a capital ship which had crashed during the Battle of Jakku, the massive impact leaving only the keel of the ship, nicknamed "the Spike," intact. The heat from the crash turned the sand into blackened glass, which would "crackle" when stepped on—hence its name. The Crackle was located several kilometers from Niima Outpost and could be reached by speeder.[1]
