A cold-matrix hearth was a type of thermal technology used to create pale silver flames and produce light breezes. During the High Republic Era, a café on the planet Coruscant had the hearths as decor.[1] In 228 BBY,[2] the Nihil Minister of Information Ghirra Starros visited the establishment, noticing the cold-matrix hearths while enjoying a glass of cream tea.[1]

A cold-matrix hearth appeared in the 2024 novel Temptation of the Force, written by Tessa Gratton and published as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase III.[3]
