- "Good news, however, came in for the Republic from Balamak in the Mid Rim, where Anakin Skywalker again proved his stratospheric talent by firing missiles that destroyed a Droid Control Ship—a ship that happened to be carrying prototype communications jammer that could have taken out an entire HoloNet node."
- ―A Galactic Alliance historical document
The CIS Jammer Prototype was a Confederacy of Independent Systems Lucrehulk-class Droid Control Ship that served during the Clone Wars. It was outfitted with a modified transmission array that could broadcast jamming signals. In 21.25 BBY, the vessel was part of a Confederate flotilla that arrived over the agriworld Balamak and disrupted the Taldot sector's communications. The Galactic Republic and Jedi subsequently carried out a starfighter attack on the flotilla, and Jedi Anakin Skywalker destroyed the CIS Jammer Prototype with a volley of missiles.
Description[]
- "One Separatist vessel was a Trade Federation Droid Control Ship with a modified transmission array to broadcast jamming signals capable of disrupting a key HoloNet node."
- ―HoloNet News Core Edition report
The CIS Jammer Prototype[4] was a Lucrehulk-class Droid Control Ship[2] manufactured by Hoersch-Kessel Drive, Inc., measuring 3,170 meters in diameter.[1] It was capable of stratospheric flight and was equipped with a prototype[3] modified transmission array. The latter could broadcast jamming signals capable of disrupting a strategic HoloNet node.[2]
History[]
- "Transmission networks resumed functioning today in the Taldot sector when Republic forces destroyed an experimental jamming platform employed by the Separatists."

The CIS Jammer Prototype was destroyed over Balamak (depicted on map).
In 21.25 BBY,[3] as part of the Clone Wars, a flotilla of the Navy of the Confederacy of Independent Systems arrived over the Mid Rim agriworld Balamak. The CIS Prototype Jammer of the Trade Federation of Planets was a part of the formation, serving as an experimental jamming platform. As a result, the functioning of transmission networks in the Taldot sector was disrupted for four standard days.[2]
In response, the Galactic Republic starfighter tactician Adar Tallon devised an attack on the Confederacy flotilla. A Republic task force, led by Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi and Nanda-Ree Janoo, carried out a starfighter attack on the enemy forces on the date 14:2:12. During the ensuing confrontation[2] in Balamak's stratosphere,[3] Jedi Anakin Skywalker delivered a missile volley that destroyed the CIS Jammer Prototype. Communications in the sector were subsequently restored, and the HoloNet News Core Edition later reported on the result of the battle,[2] although the CIS Shadowfeed news and propaganda program also labeled the Jammer Prototype's performance at Balamak a successful test of the vessel's capabilities.[5] The destruction of the CIS Jammer Prototype was eventually recorded in a 36 ABY document by the Historical Council of the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances.[3]
Behind the scenes[]
The CIS Jammer Prototype was first mentioned in "Republic HoloNet News Core Edition 14:2:12," an article written by Pablo Hidalgo as an in-universe news report that was included in the sixty-fifth issue of the Star Wars Insider magazine[2] on January 21, 2003.[6] 2008's The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia later confirmed the capitalization of the starship's name.[4]
