Birthday cake was a type of cake served at birthday celebrations. It was eaten at the respective birthday parties of the Ewoks Kneesaa a Jari Kintaka—where it was made with berries—and Shodu Warrick, where she was given the cake by the wokling Malani.

A birthday cake was a type of round cake eaten for an individual's birthday. It was edible by Ewoks. The cake could be made with berries and decorated with frosting,^[1] which could be colored yellow^[2] or a variety of colors in different patterns.^[1]

A grand birthday[]

At some point, at the grand birthday party of the Ewok Princess Kneesaa a Jari Kintaka on the Forest Moon of Endor, Kintaka's father, Chief Chirpa, planned on serving her a birthday cake. As he wanted to make the cake with berries in it, he enlisted the help of two other Ewoks to help him pick the berries from trees.^[1]

A pair of Duloks attempted to stop them and steal the berries, but Chirpa and his companions were able to fend them off and return to the village. That night, Kintaka was served her birthday cake, which she considered to be lovely. The cake had several different colors of frosting and had her name written in High Galactic.^[1]

More Ewok parties and a hidden laserfile[]

At a separate birthday celebration for Kintaka^[4] in 3 ABY,^[5] her friend, Wicket Warrick, told Kintaka that he was excited to have a slice of birthday cake, as honey-cake was being served at her party.^[4] The wokling Malani brought a birthday cake—the first she had ever made—for the Ewok Shodu Warrick at the latter's birthday party^[2] also in 3 ABY.^[6] Warrick thanked the young Ewok and took a slice. As Warrick ate the cake, Malani noted that it was her first; despite her difficulty in chewing and swallowing the slice, Warrick told Malani that she would have never guessed, and Malani beamed.^[2]

In 43 ABY, the Humans Flitcher Poste and Tobb Jadak visited the Askajian criminal Rej Taunt at the prison on the astronomical object Carcel. As the pair was about to be scanned by a security officer, Poste quipped aloud that he hoped a laserfile Jadak had hidden in a birthday cake would not be discovered.^[3]

MyComyc-Cake — Birthday cake on the cover of *MyComyc*

Birthday cake was first mentioned in the second issue of the Ewoks comic series, which was written by David Manak and published by Marvel Comics^[4] on April 2, 1985.^[8] The cake first appeared in "A Gift for Shodu,"^[2] the seventh episode of the second season of the animated series Ewoks, which first aired on October 4, 1986.^[9]

Birthday cake was later pictured on the cover of a 1987 MyComyc reprint of all of the Ewoks and Star Wars: Droids comics, where it was being eaten by Wicket Warrick, C-3PO, Mickey Mouse, and several other non–Star Wars characters.^[10] The cake was also set to appear in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, but it was ultimately cut from the game.^[11]

The non-canon comic "Lunch Break," which was written and illustrated by Jonathan Adams and published in the sixteenth issue of the comic series Star Wars Tales^[7] on June 25, 2003,^[12] featured birthday cake. In the comic, the cake is served and consumed at the birthday party of a stormtrooper of the Galactic Empire^[7] at some point between 0 ABY and 3 ABY.^[13]
