Bhatiqu was the lone city on the ice planet Thelj, situated in a temperate zone created by the planet's original settlers. It was covered by a dome. Thelj had been settled by the Galactic Republic as a potential colony[2] after approximately 682 BBY,[1] but froze over shortly after upon the sudden collapse of its sun. Nearly everyone unable to escape was killed. Bhatiqu and other settlements were made habitable after scientists discovered a method of using Thelj's planetary core to create vents of heated air through the use of atmospheric generators to create the temperate zones. The Graf family compound was located near Bhatiqu[2] around 382 BBY.[1]

As Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia dates the events of Quest for the Hidden City and the end of Phase II to 382 BBY, Phase II titles of The High Republic must be set in that year. The High Republic: Path of Deceit states that Thelj was colonized by the Galactic Republic nearly three centuries earlier, setting the earliest date for Bhatiqu's construction at after 682 BBY.
