"I wish he wouldn't shoot paying customers."
―The bartender, on Kyle Katarn, after the latter killed Shmorg and his partners — (audio) Listen (file info)[2]

A tavern existed on the moon Sulon during the year 5 ABY. Located in the city of Barons Hed, it stood at the edge of the Barons Hed Lagoon and employed a Human bartender. The establishment once hosted five members of the Gran species, who, after ordering drinks, could not decide who was going to pay the bill, which erupted into a brawl. After two of the Gran fell dead, the fledgling Jedi Kyle Katarn entered the establishment and killed the remaining Gran.

Description[]

A tavern was located on the moon Sulon in the city of Barons Hed, built right at the edge of the Barons Hed Lagoon. Staffed by a Human bartender, the tavern was a stomping ground for city residents in need of a refreshment. From the outside, the building appeared as a gray, mostly featureless structure, with three horizontal grooves and a rectangular window above a rectangular door. The door's lining was bronze in color and had several glyphs carved into it. The tavern was actually part of a building block that also included a set of apartments and the House of Max. The upper levels of the apartments could be reached via a staircase that led to a balcony patio built atop the tavern.[2]

The tavern's interior was spartan, containing no furniture other than a wooden bar that extended from one wall and stopped short of the opposite wall. Behind the bar was an alcove with a decorative pattern that carried three personal shield charges. The walls were stone-gray, and the floor was tiled. The ceiling was also gray and had support beams that ran the length of the cantina.[2]

History[]

"No, Shmorg, I've got it."
―A Gran offers to buy drinks[3]
Shmorg and Friends

The tavern's interior, inhabited by Gran

The tavern had been built[2] by the year 5 ABY,[1] when Barons Hed had become a haven for bounty hunters in the employ of the Galactic Empire. At one point, five Gran bounty hunters entered the tavern for drinks.[2] When one of them, Shmorg, offered to pay the bill, another Gran offered to buy the drinks instead. An argument erupted,[3] and the Gran started a violent brawl. As it broke out, the bartender tried to dissuade the use of blasters.[2]

This section of the article assumes 100% game completion of Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II. Any alternate stories may be noted in the "Behind the scenes" section. The events in this section may or may not have been confirmed as canon within the Star Wars Legends continuity.

After two of the Gran were killed in the confrontation,[3] the brawl was put to an end by Kyle Katarn, a New Republic Jedi trainee, who killed all of the remaining Gran when they tried to attack him. Katarn took the tavern's supply of shield units before leaving.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

"In any case, if Gran are stupid enough to kill each other, be smart enough to let them."
―Rick Barba, Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II: The Official Strategy Guide[3]

The tavern appeared in the 1997 video game Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II as a location in the game's fifth level. The tavern encounter is optional and can be skipped without any ill-effect.[2] If the player visits the tavern, Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II: The Official Strategy Guide author Rick Barba suggests waiting for the Gran to kill two of their own before engaging the survivors and pillaging the tavern for supplies.[3]
