The Ataraxia,[10] known for some time as the Lourna Dee,[8] was a starcruiser[1] in the service of the Jedi Order.[2] First commissioned by 232 BBY,[4] the Ataraxia served under the command of Jedi Master Jora Malli at the Battle of Kur.[2] During the destruction of Starlight Beacon, the ship was taken by Nihil Tempest Runner Lourna Dee after she wounded OrbaLin,[11] and she renamed it the Lourna Dee.[8] The Ataraxia was eventually reclaimed by Jedi Master Keeve Trennis.[9]

In 90 BBY,[14] the Ataraxia was used to transport a number of Jedi to the Outer Rim planet Serenno, in order for Jedi initiates to attend a celebration of the planets and cultures of the galactic region. When one initiate, Dooku, was insulted by fellow initiate Arath Tarrex, he suggested fighting back, but his friend Sifo-Dyas told him that they would be punished as a result, and forced to remain on the Ataraxia for the duration of the event.[10]

Behind the scenes[]

The Ataraxia was first mentioned in the audio drama Dooku: Jedi Lost, written by Cavan Scott[10] and published on April 30, 2019.[15] The spelling of the starship's name was confirmed by the script release of the audiobook[16] on October 1 of that year.[15]

The vessel subsequently featured in the Star Wars: The High Republic publishing initiative. It was first pictured, albeit not identified as the Ataraxia, in a preview released on StarWars.com on December 1, 2020 for the second issue of the Marvel Comics series of the same name,[17] written by Scott and illustrated by Ario Anindito.[12] The Ataraxia first appeared in the novel The High Republic: Light of the Jedi, written by Charles Soule[2] and published on January 5, 2021,[18] while the release of The High Republic 2 on February 3, 2021[19] connected the name to the ship depicted in the preview.[12]
