The ancients, were, according to legend,^[3] a species that had once inhabited the planet Batuu and vanished long before explorers first came there.^[1] By the time of the war between the First Order and the Resistance, there was nothing left of the ancients except the Black Spire Ruins that they were said to have constructed, and they had fallen into mythology, seen as deities^[3] and spoken about in tales.^[2]
