The Altyr 5 Light Freighter Race was a starship race for light freighters. It was named after Altyr 5. Despite the name, the race took place in space. Starting sometime between 10 BBY and 9 BBY,[3] Imperial-endorsed racers began to win, until sometime between 5 BBY and 4 BBY,[2] when the Spectres won. Imperial Patrol hated when racers who were not endorsed by the Empire were in the lead, and would to anything in their power to stop them from from winning.[1]
