"I'm from the planet Aaeton, only half-day's journey from here. Young people from my planet often go on survival camping trips on Ragoon-6 when we reach fourteen years of age. We have a special allowance from the Senate because we gave the elders of Ragoon refuge when they handed the planet over to the Senate."
―Floria[3]

Aaeton was a planet of the Aaeton system, in the Core Worlds region. During the Cold War between the Galactic Republic and the reconstituted Sith Empire, an Imperial bioweapon activated on the planet. During the last days of the Republic, the government of Aaeton had authorization to allow its citizens to visit the generally off-limits neighboring world of Ragoon VI.

Description[]

Aaeton was a planet[3] that was located in the Aaeton system, situated in the Core region of the galaxy.[1]

History[]

At some point before the stand-off conflict named the Cold War between the Galactic Republic and the reconstituted Sith Empire, the Republic established settlements on Aaeton. During that conflict, a dormant Imperial bioweapon activated on the planet, causing the rapid spread of toxic molds through the settlements.[2]

An individual affiliated with the Republic visited Aaeton during that time to assist with the situation.[2]

In the final days of the Republic, the ruling government of Aaeton had exclusive permission to allow its citizens to visit the normally off-limits Ragoon VI, a world half-a-day's hyperspace journey away.[4] In 27 BBY,[5] the bounty hunter Floria, when lying to the Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi and his Padawan Anakin Skywalker about her homeworld being Aaeton, claimed that the reason the government had been given the authorization from the Galactic Senate, the legislative branch of the Republic, was because of Aaeton's refuge of Ragoon VI's natives after the latter handed their homeworld to the Senate. According to Floria, the young people from Aaeton—after reaching an age of fourteen years—would often travel to Ragoon VI on survival camping journeys with that permission, being among the few off-worlders allowed on the planet.[3]

Behind the scenes[]

The planet Aaeton was first mentioned in the 2003 young readers novel Jedi Quest: The Trail of the Jedi, part of the Jedi Quest series. In the novel, the planet is described by Floria, who first claims that Aaeton is her homeworld but eventually reveals that she was lying and that her homeworld is, in fact, Thracior, casting doubt on the rest of her information about the planet.[3]

Aaeton was later mentioned in The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, published in 2008.[4] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Aaeton system, and therefore the planet, in grid square K-9.[6] Aaeton has been most recently mentioned in Star Wars: The Old Republic, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by BioWare and released in 2011, in which it was used as a possible location for Republic players to assign their companions on individual quests.[2]
