The 701st TIE wing was a fighter wing of the Galactic Empire active during the Galactic Civil War. After the Battle of Yavin, it was assigned to the defense of the Dathomir system.[1] In 1 ABY, Imperial space forces in the Dathomir system were in conflict with a band of Coynite mercenaries who plagued the area. After the Coynite experienced several severe setbacks, all their remaining forces attacked the 701st TIE wing in Dathomir space. The 701st was highly outnumbered and suffered heavy casualties. However, Grand Inquisitor Ja'ce Yiaso soon ordered Imperial Inquisition pilots present in the system to assist the 701st wing. The arrival of the Inquisition's starfighters turned the tide of the battle and saved the 701st from certain destruction. Imperial forces eventually wiped out every Coynite vessels.[1]
