2638 was a B1-series battle droid that served the Confederacy of Independent Systems as part of a droid army on the planet Geonosis.[1] In 22 BBY,[4] the B-series battle droid was among those deployed to the Petranaki Arena to combat a Jedi assault team that had infiltrated the arena to rescue three prisoners due for execution: Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Padmé Amidala.[1]
As fighting broke out on the floor of the arena, 2638 fired at the Jedi as they grouped into a defensive circle.[1]
The B1's designation was written on the back of his comlink booster pack.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
2638 first appeared in the 2002 film Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones, the second installment of the Star Wars prequel trilogy. While the droid's designation can be spotted in film,[1] the numbers could not be identified until Star Wars: The Complete Visual Dictionary, New Edition gave a translation for B1 numerals.[5]
