Wen was a male Human who lived during the 3180s. As a raider from Titan, he was in conflict with the United Earth Defense Force, who regarded him as an outlaw threatening Earth and was sworn to try to destroy him, whereas he saw himself as on a desperate search for resources that Titan needed to survive. He commanded a raider vessel at the head of a small group of similar ships, and customarily wore a helmet that disguised his Human features and voice.
In 3189, his ship detected the arrival of the USS Discovery in the Sol system and correctly assumed they carried dilithium. He attempted to attack and raid it to obtain this resource, almost placing Discovery in the middle of a firefight between his vessels and the Defense Force. However, thanks to a stratagem by Michael Burnham and Cleveland Booker, he was captured and brought on board Discovery, where the crew helped the two forces realize their misunderstandings about each other and make peace.
