Lieutenant Va'Al Trask was an Andorian who served in Starfleet special forces during the mid-23rd century. He was blind in his right eye due to an injury that also left a prominent facial scar.
During the Klingon War of 2256‐57, Trask was stationed on J'Gal where he served as commanding officer. He attempted to recruit Doctor Joseph M'Benga, whom he knew by reputation as "The Ghost", for a mission to assassinate General Dak'Rah, the leader of all Klingon forces on the heavily contested moon. M'Benga refused him, along with his request for the drug Protocol 12 to enhance his team's physical capabilities.
Trask subsequently embarked on the mission without M'Benga, but failed to achieve his objective. He was ultimately killed in battle before the Federation evacuated J'Gal; M'Benga took Trask's captured d'k tahg off his body and used it to attempt Trask's mission personally.
