Splitting this page[]

To me it makes a LOT more sense to have "Away Mission Special" in TRR S2 and "Premiere Special" in TRR S3, because TRR S2 is for Picard's first season and TRR S3 should be for LD's first season. We shouldn't be categorizing Ready Room specials because they're specials, we should be categorizing them based on what they're discussing. The 2 TRR episodes listed here have absolutely nothing in common. Also, there will be at least one other Ready Room for Lower Decks.

Tldr; send Away Mission Special back to TRR S2 and make this page TRR S3. --Hurrah123456 (talk) 21:49, August 8, 2020 (UTC)

TRR S3 is covering DIS S3. These are extra specials that don't cover any individual episode(s) in a season, which doesn't really make them "aftershows" in the standard sense, and not part of any season. Also, to say these have nothing in common is ridiculous. These two episodes have more in common with each other than either has with the rest of TRR. - Archduk3 07:22, August 10, 2020 (UTC)

The first special is about the first season of Picard, which seems like it should be in TRR S2, and we can have TRR S3 (which will probably have either 2 or 3 TRR episodes) be about the first season of Lower Decks and make TRR S4 about the third season of Discovery. We can still keep this page to list all the specials, but it's optimal to categorize by season. --Hurrah123456 (talk) 18:13, August 10, 2020 (UTC)

Optimal for whom, and in what regard? Did the production of the first special come out of the season 2 budget? Was it part of the overall order for that season? Seems to me that was something thrown together to fill the gap where DIS suddenly wasn't due to the pandemic, and not part of the plan at all. Budget and production number wise it's far more likely these will be wrapped up into season 3 than tacked on to season 2, but since we don't know that, and it's just as likely these are being financed on a more or less individual basis rather than part of an overall season order, they should remain separate until we have actually have information one way or another. - Archduk3 20:40, August 11, 2020 (UTC)

That makes sense to me. I do at least think the "The Ready Room Specials" should be removed from the season sidebar, as more may come after DIS Season 3 and MA can dump them here. --Hurrah123456 (talk) 02:10, August 12, 2020 (UTC)

This would be the location for all specials, and if you mean the navigation footer when talking about the season sidebar, that is a bridge we can cross when and if we get there. Wwe can have multiple entries in those, and you should follow the DVDs footers if you really want to see how many times something can loop back on itself. - Archduk3 19:23, August 12, 2020 (UTC)

Yeah I've seen those DVD footers. They're a bit wacky. Anyway, thanks for clarifying. --Hurrah123456 (talk) 22:23, August 12, 2020 (UTC)

Just noting that CBSAA does specifically list the first DIS aftershow as S3 E1, while listing the PIC special as S1 E11 and the LD specials as S1 E1-3. Figured I would log this in case these aftershows actually get a release somewhere together or these number change later. - Archduk3 18:28, October 15, 2020 (UTC)

2021 update[]

So we need to figure out what to do with the Ready Room specials airing in connection with Lower Decks Season 2. Do we just add them to this page, or should we perhaps move this page to "The Ready Room Specials, 2020" or something similar, and have another page for the specials that air in 2021? —Josiah Rowe (talk) 05:25, 24 August 2021 (UTC)

Actually, I'm suggesting a bigger change in how we handle TRR seasons. Discussion is at Talk:The Ready Room#"Seasons" in 2021. —Josiah Rowe (talk) 05:54, 24 August 2021 (UTC)
