Referring to episodes[]

This is a bit anal, but should we really be referring to episodes of the Picard "Ready Room" as "Episode 14", "Episode 15" and so forth? On CBS All Access and YouTube (and I presume on other platforms), the episode accompanying "Remembrance" is just called "Star Trek: Picard - Episode 1 "Remembrance" Recap" - The Ready Room". The official sources don't seem to be continuing the numbering from the previous season, probably because it's had sort of a soft reboot with Wil Wheaton as the host. Would it be more accurate for us to refer to TRR episodes from this season as "2x01", "2x02" and so forth, or something similar? —Josiah Rowe (talk) 19:35, January 23, 2020 (UTC)

Yes, it is, today. In a day or two, it would be less so. The numbers are because the aftershow episodes don't have "official" titles. IMDb just uses the corresponding DIS episode name for AT episodes, and doesn't even cover TRR. CBSAA has the TRR DIS episodes titled more or less as we do, and I'm not creating a new batch of templates this week to deal with the marketing teams changing the format for click metrics. If these change, we would probably use use some form or the "Remembrance Recap" or "Remembrance (TRR)", but as I said, I'm not doing that this week. This is low priority right now. - Archduk3 19:55, January 23, 2020 (UTC)

That's entirely fair. —Josiah Rowe (talk) 03:48, January 24, 2020 (UTC)

Away Mission Special[]

There will be an "Away Mission Special" featured on Facebook / StaTrekCBS today [1] I'm not sure how that is supposed to fit into the scheme of things. ---Alan (talk) 11:43, July 2, 2020 (UTC)

At the end of the broadcast, there was text at the top of the page that said this facebook episode will be available on CBS.com soon. - M o r p h i a s (C | T/D/W | E) 594 contributions and counting 14:53, July 2, 2020 (UTC)
It is now on CBS.com under Star-Trek: Picard as episode #11 - M o r p h i a s (C | T/D/W | E) 594 contributions and counting 15:00, July 2, 2020 (UTC)

Premiere Special[]

So it appears that there will NOT be any more episodes of The Ready Room until September 10th. The one this week is titled "Star Trek: Lower Decks - Premiere Special", and the host made a point of mentioning that they wouldn't be back on until after Episode 6 of Lower Decks.

I'd suggest putting the "Away Mission Special", this "Premiere Special", and whatever they call the special after episode six into its own season (or non-season). Season 3 of The Ready Room probably won't officially start until October 15th, when Discovery returns.--Madnana42 (talk) 09:00, August 7, 2020 (UTC)

"Seasons" in 2021[]

If I recall correctly, on CBS All Access The Ready Room was listed as its own show, so the division into seasons (with specials between Seasons 2 and 3) made a certain amount of sense. But on Paramount+, it doesn't have its own listing at all. You can only access it under each of the shows (Discovery, Picard, and Lower Decks), and the episodes are listed in accordance with each series (so, for example, what we're calling The Ready Room Season 2 is only accessible via the Picard page, where its episodes are listed as S1E1, S1E2, etc.) Incidentally, the Away Mission Special[!] seems not to be on P+ at all, though it's still on YouTube.

I'm wondering whether we should reconsider the way we list these aftershow episodes and "seasons". I think it makes more sense just to group them with the corresponding season of each main program, so that instead of having "Season 1", "Season 2", "Specials", "Season 3" and then, presumably, more "Specials", we would have "Discovery Season 2", "Picard Season 1", "Lower Decks Season 1", "Discovery Season 3", "Lower Decks Season 2", and so forth. What do other folks think? —Josiah Rowe (talk) 05:52, 24 August 2021 (UTC)

Nudging for anyone else's opinion on this... —Josiah Rowe (talk) 20:38, 15 October 2021 (UTC)

I will give my vote of approval on the new format, as it does make better sense in the way that they are now grouped on Paramount+! Not to mention, if you wanted to, then you could also add them to the corresponding shows as well under == Related Companion shows == or what-not. -- M o r p h i a s (C | T/D/W ) 594 contributions and counting 03:09, 16 October 2021 (UTC)

I'll wait a day or two for other opinions before moving the season articles and templates — I've created enough of a mess for the admins with moving the articles for the LD-related TRR episodes. But I'm thinking the "season" articles should be named "The Ready Room: DIS Season 2", "The Ready Room: PIC Season 1", and so forth, and the templates "TRR DIS Season 2", "TRR PIC Season 1", etc. —Josiah Rowe (talk) 03:40, 16 October 2021 (UTC)

Right now, they are now "Season 1" (DIS S2), "Season 2" (PIC S1), "Season L" aka "LD Specials" (LD S1/S2), "Season 3" (DIS S3), and the upcoming "Season 4" (DIS S4).
Changing from this would mean a LOT of changes to the back end templates that handle all of this stuff. Reworking them to the way you suggest is going to end up causing some serious rewrites to all of that (it was difficult enough to split the LD stuff off onto its own at this point in time). -- Sulfur (talk) 15:24, 16 October 2021 (UTC)

OK, I guess it's not worth it if it would be a big headache to change. I do think it's slightly odd to have the two seasons of LD TRR episodes lumped together, but it's not terribly important.

Incidentally, at the end of the most recent TRR episode Wil Wheaton confirmed that there will be a TRR for the premiere of Prodigy. I see that User:Jrooksjr has created Template:TRR Season PRO in preparation for that; will the back-end stuff work if the next episode is a Prodigy special rather than Discovery S4? —Josiah Rowe (talk) 20:09, 16 October 2021 (UTC)

Other pages will have to be created still, but in theory, yes it should. -- Sulfur (talk) 20:16, 16 October 2021 (UTC)

Pre-recorded segments[]

Was there ever any evidence that the pre-recorded video packages were originally made for home video? Or was that just an assumption somebody made, only for it to be disproven when the DVDs and Blu-Rays came out without those features?

If there's no reference to support the notion that the special features were created for home media, we should just say that TRR added special features alongside the first season of Picard. —Josiah Rowe (talk) 15:27, 10 December 2021 (UTC)

I always thought that they recorded them for TRR and then put them on home media, not the other way around. 31dot (talk) 15:30, 10 December 2021 (UTC)

That's possible, but do we have any evidence either way? —Josiah Rowe (talk) 15:33, 10 December 2021 (UTC)

Picard/Discovery episode[]

Where do we add the latest episode which has both Discovery and Picard segments? JagoAndLitefoot (talk) 12:59, 1 March 2022 (UTC)

I would think it could/would be linked to in both shows [Template:TRR Season 4 (Discovery) and Template:TRR Season 5 (Picard)] since is applies to both -- M o r p h i a s (C | T/D/W ) 594 contributions and counting 14:21, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
On Paramount+ it is only associated with/presented as a Discovery episode of TRR, not Picard-- which also corresponds with how the first Discovery episode of TRR of the season is treated, as it discusses DIS: "Kobayashi Maru" and PRO: "Terror Firma".–Gvsualan (talk) 14:38, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
