Inside the Writers Room TNGS3

The "Writers Room" reunion

Star Trek: The Next Generation – Season Three is a Blu-ray Disc release featuring the complete third season of Star Trek: The Next Generation in 1080p high-definition, released in April 2013. [1] As with Season One, the Season Three remastering work was completed by CBS Digital. One of the unique features on this set is footage of actor David Rappaport as the original Kivas Fajo, shot just weeks before his death. [2]

While the Region B releases were issued in identical packaging as the Region A release (save for the language and rating imprints where applicable), a limited "SteelBook®" edition was a month later released in Germany as well as an Amazon.de exclusive. That edition came with a collectible Star Trek related insignia pin included as pictured on the lower right in the infobox.

Theatrical showing[]

On 25 April 2013, the week before the set was scheduled for release in the North America, movie theaters across the United States held special showings of the theatrical-length edit of "The Best of Both Worlds", along with a cut-down portions of the Blu-ray documentaries. [3](X)

Online content[]

In addition to the list of special features included on the Blu-ray set, an additional fifteen-minute feature, "The Trek Not Taken", focusing on the series' use of visual effects was available only to consumers who purchased the Season Three set at Best Buy stores.

In North America, this feature was only available as a digital download through Best Buy's "CinemaNow" streaming media service, and focused on the making of the first season episode. [4] In Germany the special was made available for a limited time to all (German, Austrian, and Swiss only) costumers of their TNG Season 4 Blu-ray release, partly as compensation for its delayed release, though it too had to be separately downloaded at CBS's German home page, StarTrek.de, by redeeming a code customers acquired with their purchase. [5] To customers anywhere else in the world, the special feature was not made available.
