Star Trek: Shipyards – Starfleet Ships 2294 to the Future, subtitled The Encyclopedia of Star Trek Ships, is a mass-market hardcover reference book that was co-authored by Ben Robinson and Marcus Riley.

The second volume in the Shipyards series, it was published by Eaglemoss Collections through Penguin Random House's Publisher Services division on 13 November 2018, under the former company's Hero Collector imprint.

The "Books-A-Million Edition" of the book's first edition bore a variant cover and was exclusively retailed by the American bookshop chain, Books-A-Million.

In Japan, the first edition of the book was published by De Agostini as Star Trek: Shipyards Vol. 2 - Starfleet Ships 2294 to the Future, along with a Japanese edition of the first volume of the series. Polish editions of these books were also published by HarperCollins Publishers.

The first edition of the book was also published as the second volume within the Star Trek: Shipyards - Starfleet & the Federation Box Set.

A newly revised second edition of the book was published on 24 August 2021 and includes seventy pages of new material, featuring Starfleet ships from Star Trek: Discovery's third season and vessels from Star Trek: Picard and Star Trek: Lower Decks. [1]

Background information[]

  • The book is principally composed of "in-universe" starship profile articles produced for Eaglemoss Collections' Official Starships Collection partwork, combined with expanded text content and new artwork, charts, and articles.
  • The second edition also incorporates articles from the Star Trek Universe: The Official Starships Collection's magazines and the company's future Lower Decks starship releases, many published here for the first time.
  • Co-author Ben Robinson characterized the book series as an attempt to create "an equivalent of Jane's Fighting Ships for Star Trek". [2].
  • Despite the appearance of the ship on its cover (and in charts), a chapter for the Akira-class starship was not enclosed within the first edition of the book. The second edition of the book though, did include this chapter.
  • The 2019 Japanese edition was translated by Henshu Shukan [3], bore De Agostini and Ash Creative logos on its back cover, and was simultaneously released with the preceding volume.
  • The 2020 Polish edition, Star Trek: Statki - Gwiezdnej Floty Od 2294 Do PrzyszÅ‚oÅ›ci, was translated by Klaudyna Cwynar, bore the HarperCollins logo on its cover, and was published without a dust jacket. [4] The first volume of this series in Polish was released earlier in 2020 and published by Egmont (Poland), a subsidiary imprint of HarperCollins Publishers.
