(written from a production point of view)
The 2009 DVD release of Star Trek: First Contact (released in Region 2 in 2010, and concurrently with its Blu-ray counterpart) included a series of new special features, and a digitally-remastered version of the original theatrical cut. This release debuted as part of the 22 September 2009 Star Trek: The Next Generation Motion Picture Collection DVD set.
However, in order to give the then new Blu-ray Disc format preferential treatment – as was common industry policy at the time – , less special features are featured on the DVD variant.
