Roy Orbison was a 20th century Human musician from Earth.

Orbison performed the song "Ooby Dooby", a favorite of Zefram Cochrane's that he enjoyed listening to on a jukebox at the Montana settlement from which he launched the Phoenix in 2063. (Star Trek: First Contact)

Roy Orbison was given credit as the performer of "Ooby Dooby" in Star Trek: First Contact. Furthermore, the use of the performance was granted courtesy of his production company, Orbison Records, Inc..

In real life, Orbison was a Star Trek fan, and often opened his concerts with his band jamming to Star Trek: The Original Series' theme by Alexander Courage. [1]

The Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode "The Forsaken" was originally titled "Only the Lonely" after Orbison's song. (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Companion, p. 58)
