An orchid engulfing the Artifact
An orchid was a weapon used by the synths of Coppelius to defend their planet. Resembling a giant orchid flower, it could attach itself to a starship and deactivate its power systems.
In 2399, the synths sent five orchids to intercept La Sirena, Narek's snakehead, and the Artifact over Coppelius. The orchids disabled all three ships, causing them to crash on the planet's surface; the orchids burned on atmospheric entry. The synths had ten orchids remaining, and subsequently made thirteen more in anticipation of the imminent attack by a Romulan fleet.
