A museum ship was a ship that was preserved and turned into a museum.

By 2401, numerous Earth and Federation starships had been preserved in the Fleet Museums on Earth and Athan Prime. These included the Phoenix, Enterprise NX-01, USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-A), USS Pioneer (NCC-1500), USS Leondegrance (NCC-2176), USS Excelsior (NCC-2000), and USS Voyager (NCC-74656). (ENT: "These Are the Voyages..."; TNG: "Relics"; PIC: "The Star Gazer", "The Next Generation") Another was the USS Enterprise-D which had been secretly rebuilt by Commodore Geordi La Forge over the course of twenty years and was later pressed back into service by her old command crew. Alternate timelines[]

In an alternate 2374, Annorax noted that he had collected artifacts from hundreds of worlds. He stated that his vessel was more than a weapon, that it was a "museum of lost histories". (VOY: "Year of Hell, Part II")

In 2378 of another alternate timeline, time traveler Vice Admiral Kathryn Janeway from 2404 told her past self that the USS Voyager had been turned into a museum which sat on the grounds of the Presidio on Earth. Vice Admiral Janeway had told the curator that if he wanted to make the ready room more authentic, that he should always keep a steaming pot of coffee on the desk. On a clear morning, one could see Alcatraz from Voyager's ready room. (VOY: "Endgame")
