The Dauntless fires microtorpedoes
The microtorpedo was a type of long-range torpedo weapon utilized by Starfleet in the late 24th century.
In 2384, Vice Admiral Kathryn Janeway had the USS Dauntless target the USS Protostar, which was docked at the space elevator on Noble Isle, with minimum-yield microtorpedoes in order to destroy its protostar drive before the technology could fall into Romulan hands. She aborted the strike upon learning that the Protostar crew had escaped the Tal Shiar team sent after them. (PRO: "Masquerade")
The microtorpedo was first introduced in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Technical Manual (p. 149), which stated that it was part of the armament of Danube-class runabouts.
The episode's audio description described these as quantum torpedoes.
