Lithopanspermia was an idea put forward by a small group of Human scientists in the early 21st century to explain the origins of life on Earth. They believed that life traveled from world to world on rocks blasted into space by comet or asteroid impacts, such as lifeforms originating on Mars taking root on Earth.

In 2024, this idea was referenced in the display "Could There Be Life on Europa?" seen at the gala for the Europa Mission astronauts. (PIC: "Two of One")

The paragraph containing this idea was from the Space.com article "If We Find Life on Europa or Enceladus, It Will Probably Be a '2nd Genesis'" by Mike Wall that was published on December 17, 2019. It was the second paragraph with the second to last sentence modified to include the idea's name and the last sentence cut. [1]
