The Kromsapiods were a technologically-advanced humanoid species.

Physically, Kromsapiods were larger than most humanoids, with powerfully built upper bodies, digitigrade legs, and long tails with barbed tips. Their faces were flat and covered by articulated plates, and they had sharp teeth. They had three digits on each limb, all bearing claws that allowed them to climb on walls and ceilings. There were sharp, blade-like protrusions on their shoulders, chest, forearms, and ankles; the forearm blades could be pulled out for use as weapons. Their skin was green in color, as was their blood. Kromsapiods could move both bipedally and quadrupedally.

Kromsapiods were predators with an undeniable urge to hunt that became frustrating if left unaddressed for too long. However, as they respected life above all else, they sated their instincts through ritualized Venarix hunts, which were non-lethal "catch and release" affairs involving sentient prey who had given consent to be hunted. They believed there were only three kinds of prey: the first was immobilized by fear, the second would run and hide to delay the inevitable, and the third was "a winged lizard-type creature". They also believed that at some point, "the hunted always tries to become the hunter", calling it a "tale as old as time".

In 2381, a Kromsapiod named K'ranch was temporarily hosted aboard the USS Cerritos. While aboard the ship, he asked and obtained permission from Brad Boimler to hunt him. (LD: "The Least Dangerous Game")
