O'Herlihy guest-starred in the British crime series Midsomer Murders episode "The Black Book" (2009) and portrayed Sheriff Vaines in The Descent Part 2 (2009). He returned to acting with a role in the drama Queen of the Redwood Mountains (2020).

O'Herlihy died in Bath, Somerset, England, on 15 September 2021. He was survived by his wife, Juliette, and his children, Rogan, Lonan, David, and Daniel. [1]
