Gabriel "Gabe" Hwang was the estranged son of Raffi Musiker and Jae Hwang. He was born on Hellas Planitia on Mars in 2374, stardate 51554. A year later, on stardate 52461, he was vaccinated against three known diseases, namely typhoid, tetanus, and the Andorian flu. Later in life, his assigned Federation Security Number was 0593-493-293.

By 2399, Gabriel resided in Stardust City on Freecloud. He was employed at Freebank and was married to a Romulan named Pel, who was pregnant with their daughter. In 2399, Musiker attempted to reconcile with Gabriel, who told her that he and his father were driven away by her "conspiracy theories" about the attack on Mars and the resulting synth ban. In 2401, following the destruction of the Borg, Gabriel contacted his mother, having learned of her heroics and was still in awe of everything that Musiker had done. Musiker told Worf that Gabriel wanted her to meet her granddaughter and that "all the monitors in his house suddenly lit up at once. Every news-wave broadcast my face. And every classified valor commendation." Worf indirectly admitted to leaking the information to help Musiker reconcile with her family and urged his friend to be happy with them.
