Freebus

Freebus

In a deleted scene from the Star Trek: Enterprise first season episode "Two Days and Two Nights", Freebus was a Risan representative who negotiated the payment for staying on Risa when the crew of Enterprise NX-01 visited the planet in 2152. He suggested the crew stay on Risa for a few days longer, so that every member of the crew could take shore leave on the planet; he'd only ask for a minimal additional charge. Captain Archer declined, as they needed to keep some dilithium to run the ship. Freebus was concerned that Sub-Commander T'Pol didn't choose to take shore leave on the planet, as he assured her that Risa had many diversions designed for Vulcan guests. He promised the crew that no one would leave Risa disappointed.

In the final draft script of "Two Days and Two Nights" and the episode's call sheets, this character was unnamed, referred to only as "Risan Representative". In the script, he was referred to as being in his forties and was further described thus; "The Risan is professional but outgoing – a cross between a hotel manager and a cruise director." When his costume was auctioned off, the auction listed it as "Freebus", and noted that the tag read, "Enterprise #025 Two Days and Two Nights, Risan Representative, Dennis Cockrum." [1]

Freebus was played by actor Dennis Cockrum. The scene involving Freebus was numbered as scene 2. Cockrum filmed this scene along with Scott Bakula, Jolene Blalock, Connor Trinneer, Dawn Drake, and Glen Hambly on Friday 22 March 2002 on Paramount Stage 8. Later, the scene was released in the ENT Season 1 DVD and Blu-ray sets, and the costume for the Risan Representative was sold off on the It's A Wrap! sale and auction on eBay. [2]
