Escape from Spacedock start screen
Escape from Spacedock was one of the simulations presented by Shari yn Yem during the drills she conducted aboard the USS Cerritos in 2381. However, unlike Yem's other simulations, which took place in holopods, Escape from Spacedock was an exercise programmed into the actual bridge of the Cerritos.
The simulation was a re-creation of the events leading up the Battle of Genesis in 2285. The crew were tasked with stealing the Cerritos from Spacedock, evading a pursuing starship, and rescuing Spock from the Genesis Planet.
The test went poorly. Ensign Beckett Mariner, acting in the role of captain, began arguing with Captain Carol Freeman, acting in the role of an Ensign, over the former's performance in the Old West Planet simulation earlier that day. Mariner tried to take the controls from Freeman, and amidst their fighting the Cerritos crashed into the Spacedock doors, failing the test in record time.
Unknown to the crew, Yem had tampered with the holo-program so that the entire crew would fail. (LD: "I, Excretus")
In the original events of Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, which the simulation is based on, the vessel pursuing the USS Enterprise was the USS Excelsior; however, the ship set to pursue the Cerritos in the simulation, based on the introductory screen was a 24th century Obena-class ship.
