IDW Publishing is an American comics company that has risen as among the more notable comics publication companies in recent years. It earned "Publisher of the Year" for three years (2004, 2005, 2006) by Diamond Comics Distributors.

Their first mark at prominence was with the horror comic 30 Days of Night, followed by other horror stories and more offbeat comic series. They also delved into licensed properties, where they showed their versatility, often going for television shows and movies not expected to have an accompanying comic book. The licensed properties included Silent Hill, Metal Gear Solid, the CSI series, 24, and Shaun of the Dead.

In 2005, IDW acquired the comics rights to Transformers, a major Hasbro property. Because of this, there was speculation in late 2007 when it was announced that Devil's Due Publishing had not received a renewal of rights to G.I. Joe comics. In May 2008, IDW formally announced its acquisition of the license.[1] The first G.I. Joe comic published under this imprint was G.I. Joe #0, released in October 2008. IDW held the rights to produce G.I. Joe and Transformers comic books until these licenses were acquired by Skybound Entertainment in 2023.
