First published in 2011, G.I. Joe: Snake Eyes (vol 2) was the first Snake Eyes-titled series published by IDW in their own comics continuity and the second overall (the first one being set in the 2009 film continuity); it was written by Chuck Dixon. The first eight issues comprised their part of the "Cobra Civil war" arc, alongside the new G.I. Joe and G.I. Joe: Cobra series.
The seventh issue dropped the "Vol. 2" part of the title and, in 2012, with the thirteenth issue the series was re-titled as Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. The series would cease its run in 2013 after twenty-one issues. It was succeeded by G.I. Joe: Snake Eyes, Agent of Cobra in 2015.
