First published in 2011, G.I. Joe Cobra (vol 2) was the second Cobra-focused continuing series in IDW's G.I. Joe continuity; it was originally titled G.I. Joe: Cobra Civil War for issues #0 and #1. The first eight issues comprised their part of the "Cobra Civil war" arc, alongside the new G.I. Joe and G.I. Joe: Snake Eyes series. With the tenth issue, the series dropped "G.I. Joe" and "Vol. 2" from its title, simply known for the remainder of the run as Cobra.
The series was completed in 2013, after twenty-one issues and one annual. It was succeeded by G.I. Joe: The Cobra Files in 2013.
