Worst customer service

All they do is endless emails that are written in foreign language, No phone or email contact, just fill out form on website and wait for nonsensical response. The will not give store or company that fills your orders contact information.
DO NOT ORDER, STAY AWAY

Great Site

Great online marketplace, never had any problems with any of the sellers I have purchased from. My orders always arrive on time and in great condition. Super points scheme is really good too!!

Looks like a lot of people on here have been unlucky - or disgruntled people are the only ones that make the effort to write a review!

A Mishmash of Service Quality

Imagine a mirror world where a company like Amazon existed that had lots of great deals but didn't want you to take advantage of them. Now add in some paradoxically GOOD customer service balanced out by extremely bad business practices. Confused yet? That's Rakuten!

Early 2015 I had an unexpected windfall and decided I'd try to get my hands on the Archie Mega Man comics. On Amazon, they were expensive or sold out, and that's where I discovered Rakuten. Not only did they have all the volumes I was after, but they were on sale. Lucky! Or not, because somewhere between my order being placed and processed several books mysteriously became unavailable. I was told they'd be restocked soon, but after most of a year that never happened.

To make things more interesting, when one of the two big orders came, a lot of the books were clearly chewed up on the edges because they did not pack them correctly - inadequate cushioning so they scraped along the sides a lot. I contacted customer service and was actually shipped a whole new set for NO charge and I didn't have to return the original shipment. Not only that, but I was refunded about $17 for all the inconvenience and waiting.

Surely this was too good to be true. Well, it was. The second set of books arrived in only marginally better condition. Not only that, but a month or so later they decided to refund the rest of the books WITHOUT checking with me. Then, around November 2015, I discovered they'd also refunded the preordered books, too.

On one hand, it's nice to have some of the money back. On the other, I wasn't even contacted once during any of the events that took place following that original complaint back in April 2015. Looking around at the other reviews here, I'm seeing that this habit of abruptly cancelling orders is remarkably common with Rakuten.

The worst part is that the money they refunded wasn't enough to order the books elsewhere. So now I've got a handful of graphic novels that I can't get the beginning of cause I ain't spending $300 one it, and there's gaps in the story since those volumes weren't shipped.

I will certainly never be shopping with them again, and I'd warn others to be equally cautious about ever doing business with them.

Terrible Customer Service

Do Not Do business with this company. Worst online business I have ever dealt with. Shipped defective recliner and will not honor the warranty. Even ignored letter from my lawyers.

Item Never Arrived and They Ignored All My Emails

I bought a Final Fantasy 7 sword key chain set in November which was meant as a Christmas present. The day after I ordered I received a dispatch email but about 2 weeks later I still hadn't received my order so I sent Busy Bees an email but got no responce. Christmas came and went and still there was no sign so I sent another email which again got ignored, at this point I knew my order wasn't coming. I decided to email Rakuten themselves and see what the heck was going on but surprise, surprise ignored again. It's now January 8th almost 2 months after the shipping date and still nothing, no order, no refund, no reply.

This company is a total joke, avoid at all costs unless you want to be ripped off and ignored. They don't care about their customers once they have your money. If your order doesn't arrive then don't expect any help or advice, just pure ignorance. I will never shop with them again.

cancelled my order after stating it was on way

Terrible company. Sheen electrical .
I ordered X box 1 console via rakuten and then the company above. Money taken from my account. After 1 week I contacted sheen electrical to ask for a delivery day. Rude response back which said 1 week.
3 days later order cancelled by rakuten as out of stock. Missing my son's birthday present.

The Cancellation Company

Often have good deals that are then cancelled. Very unreliable and clearly don't regulate the site very well. No responsibility taken by them and clearly see themselves as a company that is too big to care about their customers. What can you do? Shop elsewhere.

Bought a camcorder for my sister and it didn't work sent several emails to them to try to get it exchanged with no response whatsoever. Terrible customer service!! terrible product!!

Poor service since being play.com

I used to always use this site when it was play.com, but now, never again. CD ordered beginning of December, then cancelled immediately (it was my mistake I ordered the wrong one) via email. Told I couldn't cancel it until it had been delivered, which is fair enough. So, I'm still waiting for delivery a month later. I'm told that it is being imported from America (wasn't aware of this when placing order) so will take 21 business days maximum. Good job I didn't want it for Christmas! Won't be using them again, just hope like they process a refund properly if I ever receive what I ordered...

worst company in the world

i have been using play.com for years however since they have been taken over by rakuten there customer service no longer exists. i purchase a item 2 months ago via a merchant. i received a email from the merchant and i discovered the item was not what was advertised i contacted the merchant and received a reply shorty after to let me know they would issue a refund back to rakuten, this was 2 months ago. i have been emailing rakuten i receive a email back to let me know someone will contact me within 48 hours and then nothing..i have sent 6 emails over 7 weeks not 1 reply is this good customer service ? NO would i recommend play.com - rakuten? NO ..

Great price, delivery time and packaging

It was only after I ordered Forza 6 for Xbox one that I checked out this website and found to my horror that it had only one star.

Well thankfully my experience was perfect. I received my order in super time. One day after I ordered it. Packaging was perfect.

I thought I'd put this review up to try and balance opinion on this company.

Rakuten Playerpoints vanished - now updated

I chose to purchase a PS4 through Rakuten as they had a seemingly good offer - the price for the PS4 bundle was good, but the icing on the cake was a large (£75 pounds worth) number of "player points" where I could purchase products from their re sellers. There was a bit of a wait for the points to be awarded, but then I made the purchases (2 games) as per normal.
One of the purchases didn't arrive, so I contacted the seller. They refunded my purchase, but I saw nothing in my account. After contacting them again, they said that I had to contact Ratuken directly to get my points back.
I did, and heard nothing. No response, in spite of the auto-reply claiming that I would hear back in 48 hours. After 2 more attempts to reach them, I realized they were not going to reply, and that I was missing £35 worth of product.
After reading some reviews on other sites, I feel quite fortunate that they only took me for a relatively small sum. It's confusing thought, as if they had made me happy, I'm sure I would have spent enough over the long run have been more than worth the trouble.
Having had a number of successful returns on both ebay and amazon and other online sellers, I would encourage everyone to avoid Rakuten, as it's simply not worth the lack of customer service and risk of losing money.

Update: Rakuten have been in contact and have updated my points balance. Still not great service, but an acceptable outcome.

Terable customer service

When a sale goes wrong, don't expect any help from Rakuten customer services. When an order arrived with part of what I ordered missing (a free gift), I contacted the seller, I was told that the free gift was missing from the order, I got a reply, sorry they had run out. Further email I sent requesting cancellation of order then went unanswered. Calls to Rakuten were greeted with the response of "your contract was with the sellers. contact him" was not allowed to speak to manager, not allowed to cancel Rakuten account and was spoken down to in an appalling manner. This was not the first time I have had problems with Rakuten, but it will be my last as I never intend buying from them again, its not worth the grief!

Cowboys from the wild wild west

I will give a full review when my issue ks satisfied, do not bother calling them as all you get is a broken promise, do not trust their email, as far as im aware 48 hours is 2 days not 2 weeks! Good luck with your order, just like mine its unlilkely to show up.

Prices are high and communication poor

Ordered a game for xbox one and raised an incident to return it as delivery was slow. Reply received 2 days later saying I could return it but they needed my ORDER NUMBER - even though it was already supplied in my original email. Every email since that has been ignored. Absolute waste of time

BEWARE POINTS NOT HONOURED

Called customer services as the points had not been credited onto my account however was told points can sometimes take 2/3 weeks to be credited after few weeks called again was told that the points had expired 3 days ago I explained that the points did not become visible to me as I checked on a regular basis customer services basically said tough they could not do anything as they did not have the facility to credit points back into a customers account after they had expired. will not use again was made to feel like I was lying by customer services.
