What to expect

Polls close at 11 p.m. Eastern time. In the 2022 primaries, first results were reported soon after, and just over half of votes were reported by 1 a.m. Eastern time.

Washington conducts its voting by mail, and all registered voters were sent a ballot. Voters could return ballots by drop box or in person until the close of polls on Election Day, or by mail if they were postmarked by Election Day.

Voters do not register by party, but they could choose one party’s primary to participate in. As of Friday, more than one million ballots had been cast early, about half in the Republican primary.
