Part I: It’s #internationalwomensday, and today is an important day to celebrate and recognize BCV’s community of incredible women, starting with some of our founders who represent every stage of company-building across our four core domains - fintech, application software, infrastructure and commerce tech. This year, we are sharing more about these inspiring founders building iconic businesses and transformative technologies. Sara Du: An Atlanta-native, self-taught engineer, Harvard dropout, Y Combinator grad and on the cover of Forbes 30u30 this year, she is the Co-Founder of Alloy Automation. Liz G.: Entrepreneur, Emmy-award winner, and Co-Founder & CEO of soona. She previously founded Mighteor which was acquired by Standard Shows. We’re also particularly proud of her work with The Candor Clause. Emily Gittins: Former GSMA where she worked with mobile operators to address the barriers to women accessing and using mobile internet, BCG and Stanford MBA focused on how the circular economy could reduce fashion’s environmental impact, and Co-Founder & CEO at Archive. Danielle Pensack & Deirdre Clute: Co-Founders of Rightfoot. Fun fact: these two once lived together in a retirement home for free room and board to test their idea for the business. Talk about scrappy! Daniela Miao: MIT alum and with a wildly impressive background including Lightstep, AWS and DynamoDB. She’s Co-Founder & CTO of Momento. Hannah Rose Olson: Y Combinator alum and founder of Disclo. Hannah was diagnosed with chronic Lyme disease at 20 years old, and channeled her challenges in the workplace to launch her company. Stephany Kirkpatrick, CFP®: Daughter of immigrants, Certified Financial Planner, and previously launched Equinox+, she is Founder & CEO of Orum.io. Martha Dreiling: A leader amongst women in fintech, Martha's background includes impressive brands like OnDeck, Attune, Brightfield and Rhino. She is Co-Founder and COO of Reserv. And of course, the incredible Jennifer Hyman: Co-Founder and CEO of Rent The Runway and current BoD for Estee Lauder and Zalando.

When I began my job search at the beginning of this year, the most consistent piece of advice everyone told me was to optimize for my team. Investor quality, valuation, funding stage, matter too, but finding a team you can thrive with trumps all of that. When I met the incomparable Will Schmitt, Danielle Pensack, and Deirdre Clute, at Rightfoot I realized that they not only had the intensity and drive necessary to build a successful business but also that they tempered it with the compassion and empathy necessary for that business to be truly mission-driven. The past month working with them has validated everything I suspected and I couldn’t have made a better decision. Of course, I have the obligatory “We’re hiring” pitch. We’re focused on engineers and PMs, but we have needs across a variety of functions for which we haven't fleshed out the reqs.
